The British Omani Society (BOS) recently concluded a two-day high-profile New Generation Group (NGG) delegation in London, focusing on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the future of transport. The event, titled "AI on the Move: The Future of Transport," brought together a distinguished lineup of speakers who shared their expertise on various aspects of AI and its implications for the transportation industry.
Sponsored by BP, the two-day programme included participation of 20 promising youth from both the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom (UK) from 14-16 September 2023, and featured a series of lectures, panel sessions, and discussions.
Sheikh Ma'an Hamed Al Rawahi, NGG Chairman, set the stage for discussions on the significant role of AI in shaping the future of transportation by welcoming the delegates. Mr. Faris Jamal Khodr, Head of Political and Economic Section at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the UK, emphasized the importance of Oman-UK relations in the context of AI and transport, aligning with Oman Vision 2040.
The New Generation Group delegation concluded with a gala dinner attended by BOS Chairman, Major General (Retd) Richard Stanford CB MBE, who stressed the importance of hosting this delegation to create opportunities for knowledge and idea exchange, further strengthening youth relations between Oman and the UK. In addition, NGG Oman Team Leader, Eng. Shuaib Al Rawahi, expressed gratitude to all the guests, speakers, partners, and sponsors for their continuous support and pivotal role in making this delegation a resounding success.
Reflecting on the event, an Omani delegate, Aisha Al Amri, Functional Specialist in Wells, BP Oman, shared, “The delegation was an enriching experience, as I had the privilege to meet extraordinary individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences. It exemplified the power of collaboration and knowledge exchange between nations, particularly within AI, and it’s role in shaping a more sustainable, efficient, and interconnected transportation future.”

It's evident that AI is not just transforming transport but reshaping the entire landscape of our society. لندن، المملكة المتحدة - 18 سبتمبر 2023 - اختتمت الجمعية البريطانية العمانية (BOS) مؤخرا ملتقى الذكاء الاصطناعي ومحوره الاساسي "مستقبل الذكاء الاصطناعي وحركته في قطاع النقل والمواصلات" لمدة يومين في العاصمة البريطانية "لندن" اللذي ضم وفدًا رفيع المستوى لمجموعة الجيل الجديد (NGG). وقد جمع الحدث مجموعة متميزة من المتحدثين الذين تبادلوا خبراتهم في مختلف جوانب الذكاء الاصطناعي وآثاره على صناعة النقل.
وتضمن البرنامج الذي استمر لمدة يومين، برعاية شركة بي پي ، مشاركة 20 شابًا واعدًا من سلطنة عمان والمملكة المتحدة في الفترة من 14 إلى 16 سبتمبر 2023 سلسلة من المحاضرات وجلسات النقاش اللتي تعني بهذا القطاع.
وقال الشيخ معن بن حمد الرواحي ، رئيس مجلس إدارة مجموعة الجيل الجديد بالجمعية، في كلمته الافتتاحية: "إننا نرحب بجميع المشاركين من مختلف الهيئات الحكومية والخاصه في السلطنة والمملكة المتحدة اللذين لهم الدور البارز في دفع عجلة الذكاء الاصطناعي وتطبيقه في الواقع" كما عبّر عن امتنانه من أجل بدء الملتقى وورش العمل المصاحبة . وأكد الفاضل فارس بن جمال خضر، رئيس القسم السياسي والاقتصادي في سفارة سلطنة عمان في المملكة المتحدة على أهمية العلاقات العمانية البريطانية في سياق الذكاء الاصطناعي والنقل، بما يتماشى مع رؤية عمان 2040، وعن دور الشباب البارز في تنمية العلاقات بين البلدين
واختتم وفد مجموعة الجيل الجديد حفل عشاء حضره رئيس مجلس إدارة الجمعية البريطانية العمانية اللواء (متقاعد) ريتشارد ستانفورد، الذي أكد على أهمية استضافة هذا الوفد لخلق فرص لتبادل المعرفة والأفكار، وتعزيز علاقات الشباب بين سلطنة عمان و المملكة المتحدة. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، أعرب رئيس فريق مجموعة الجيل الجديد - عمان، المهندس/ شعيب بن عبدالرحيم الرواحي، عن امتنانه لجميع الضيوف والمتحدثين والشركاء والرعاة لدعمهم المستمر ودورهم المحوري في تحقيق هذا النجاح الباهر لهذا الملتقى.
وفي تعليقها على هذا الحدث، قالت عائشة العامرية، بي پي عمان، : “لقد كان الوفد تجربة غنية، حيث كان لي شرف مقابلة أفراد استثنائيين من خلفيات وخبرات متنوعة. "لقد جسدت قوة التعاون وتبادل المعرفة بين الدول، لا سيما في مجال الذكاء الاصطناعي، ودورها في تشكيل مستقبل نقل مستدام ومتكافئ"
وقالت دينا شهرباني، من شركة ترين لاين بلندن، : “لقد وجدت المناقشات في هذا الوفد مفيدة وملهمة. من الواضح أن الذكاء الاصطناعي لا يغير وسائل النقل فحسب، بل يعيد تشكيل المشهد بأكمله لمجتمعنا. لقد عزز هذا التجمع أهمية التعاون الدولي في تسخير إمكانات الذكاء الاصطناعي."
كما نجح وفد الجمعية البريطانية العمانية في جمع الخبراء وصانعي السياسات وقادة الصناعة لاستكشاف الإمكانات التحويلية للذكاء الاصطناعي في قطاع النقل. وتظل الجمعية ملتزمة بتعزيز الحوار والتعاون الدوليين في المجالات الرئيسية ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
