Martyn qualified as a chartered accountant in 1982 with a leading City firm of accountants and became a partner of that firm in 1988. In 1998 he joined a full UK listed international food group as Finance Director and working with a small team completed a management buy-out of that group in 1999. Following its sale Martyn joined Charles Kendall Group, which has commercial interests in Oman, as Group Finance Director in 2005, becoming its Managing Director in 2017. Over this period Martyn has accumulated a wealth of commercial experience.
On joining Charles Kendall Group, Martyn accepted an invitation to become the Honorary Treasurer of the British Omani Society and was made a Trustee in 2006. Martyn remains the Society’s Treasurer and takes responsibility for managing the Society’s financial affairs. Over his tenure as Treasurer, Martyn was heavily involved in the Society’s purchase of Sackville Street and has made a significant contribution towards the management of the Society and towards achieving the very sound financial operating base that the Society currently enjoys.
